Project information
The purpose of cooperation with the Ap Sauli travel agency was to create a new eye-catching and technologically advanced website with an online booking feature. We carefully planned the development as well as developed the website, optimised it for search engines and integrated the reservation system.
Now, the customer’s website is even faster than before, and travellers can now choose their travel destination even more quickly and in a more convenient way.
-
Objectives
- Developing an eye-catching website that sticks in the memory for the purpose of selling bus and air tours.
- Synchronising the website with the customer’s reservation system developed with the use of the Laravel framework.
- Implementing the downloading of bus tours and air tours as xml files for the website and the partners.
- Identifying inconveniences associated with the internal reservation system for booking, as well as transforming this system in accordance with the client’s current purposes.
- Optimising the website for search engines.
-
What we have done
- We developed a convenient and functional website structure.
- For our partners and our own service, we downloaded available bus and air tours from the booking system as XML files.
- To create the website, the MODX Revolution content management system was chosen. We automated the updating of the content relating to bus and air tours with the use of XML every few hours.
- We optimised the website for search engines.
-
Outcome
We developed a convenient and functional resource that allows clients to get comprehensive information about AP SAULI tours.
We created a functionality that allows one to select and book the tour they liked online.
We automated the client’s business processes: tours are independently added and updated on the internet resource.
Achievement of the objectives
Preparatory stage and prototyping
At this stage, we collected the requirements and the content related to the website, we developed the structure, and we prepared the requirements specification. The deficiencies associated with the existing reservation system were identified, which needed to be improved.
As a result, we developed a document detailing each section of the future website, its units and their functioning, as well as compiled a list of tasks relating to changes in the reservation module.
Immediately before creating the design layouts, we developed a website prototype. This allowed us to draw conclusions in relation to placing the elements and the appearance of each page before working on the layout and setting up the resource.
Design
A simple and, at the same time, eye-catching interface convincingly suggests using the tour catalogue and choosing a suitable travel destination.
The tour description pages are designed considering aspects such as functionality and convenience. Visitors can reserve the selected tour directly via the website, indicating all the necessary traveller data.
Implementation features
The information regarding the remaining number of seats/places in relation to each tour is available for users.
When travellers make their requests, all of them are provided with a detailed bus layout and the information regarding bus seat availability. We implemented the possibility to independently choose a suitable seat on the bus.
Each tourist can choose extra excursions in addition to the main tour.
